What are your fees?

Individual appointments are 50 min, at the rate of $120 per appointment. Couples and partnership appointments are at the rate of $160.

Sliding scale appointments may be available. 
Consulting and workshop prices vary. Contact me for further information.

What is a sliding scale? 

A sliding scale is the option to pay a lowered fee based upon your needs. As every situation is unique, please connect to discuss your situation.

What is counselling and psychotherapy?

According to the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), counselling is:

“services provided within the context of a professional relationship with the goal of assisting clients in addressing issues in their lives by such activities as helping clients to find solutions and make choices through exploration of options, identification of strengths and needs, locating information and providing resources, and promoting a variety of coping strategies”

OCSWSSW describes psychotherapy services as:

“any form of treatment for psycho-social or emotional difficulties, behavioural maladaptations and/or other problems that are assumed to be of an emotional nature, in which a College member establishes a professional relationship with a client for the purposes of promoting positive personal growth and development”

Are you registered, licensed, and insured?

Yes, I am registered and licensed to practice through the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. As a member, I am permitted to practice counselling and psychotherapy.

As required by my college, I hold liability insurance.

I am currently providing psychotherapy services under the supervision of a registered MSW. As a member with OCSWSSW, I am permitted to provide “Interjurisdictional Telecounselling” services to residents in Nova Scotia.

How do I pay?

You will receive an invoice for your services, which can be paid by e-transfer or by debit/credit care through Jane.

Do you accept insurance? 

While direct billing is not available at this time, many insurance providers cover and reimburse for my services services. I encourage anyone interested in my services to contact their insurance provider and confirm if my services are covered under your plan. You can provide them with my OCSWSSW #852291.

What if I miss my appointment?

Please provide 24 hours’ notice (1 business day, not including weekends) if you can’t make your scheduled appointment. Missed appointments will be billed for 50% of the service fee. 

A Terms and Consent for Service will be shared with you before your appointment.

Do you offer evening appointments?

Yes, evening appointments are available on a first come first serve basis.

What ages do you work with? 

I provide counselling and psychotherapy services to adults 18 years and older. 

I have provided workshops to all age ranges, including children and youth.

What modalities do you use in counselling?

I ground my work in evidence-based practices and am informed in CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, narrative, and solution focused approaches.

As each person and situation is unique, I believe that there is room to explore approaches that best resonate with you and your wellbeing. 

I am continuously engaged in professional development to further develop the skills needed to effectively support clients. 
I am currently completing an Integrative Sex and Couples Certification and am looking forward to incorporating more sexuality focused supports.

What topics do you work with?

I work with a variety of topics, such as:

  • Identity (race, culture, religion, sexuality, gender, ability, etc)
  • Navigating life stages and changes related to personal, family/parenting, employment, and academic life
  • Neurodiversity (ADHD, autism)
  • Newcomer Settlement (work permit, refugee claimants, study permit, permanent resident, “non-status”)
  • Social and systemic injustice 

I believe it is important to provide dynamic services that meet the needs of clients as they evolve. However, I know that some clients are best suited with providers that specialize in specific areas of care. If we encounter an issue that is outside of my scope, I will provide you with referrals to appropriate providers. 

Are your services confidential?

Counselling and psychotherapy services are confidential service, where you can share your deepest thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement. I respect your privacy and confidentiality and will not share any information about your sessions with anyone without your explicit consent, except within the following circumstances:

  • When the records of a client have been subpoenaed by a court of law
  • When a person is deemed to be in danger to themselves or others
  • When a medical emergency occurs while in counselling
  • When it has been deemed that a childor senior is being abused, neglected or abandoned or at risk of being abused, neglected or abandoned.

Prior to your appointment, you will receive a Terms and Consent to Service which will provide further information on confidentiality.

Do you require formal ADHD/autism diagnosis for services?

No, I do not require any formal diagnosis.

Do you offer diagnosis or assessments?

No, I do not offer diagnosis or assessment services. I am happy to provide referrals to providers that specialize in that area.
